Universal Analytics No Longer Processes Data

Google is officially sending out individual messages to Google Analytics users. As we all should know by now, Universal Analytics is gone and GA4 is here. It is now official. Universal Analytics no longer processes data. You have probably received an email, but if not, this is what Google sent out:

Your Universal Analytics property needs attention

The Google Analytics 4 deadline has now passed. Your Universal Analytics property UA-XXXXXXXXX-X has now stopped processing new data. All remaining Universal Analytics standard properties will soon stop processing new data. If you haven’t yet, we encourage you to complete your transition to Google Analytics 4.

Actions to Take Now That Universal Analytics is Done

We know that change is not always easy. If you have relied on UA for your analytics you are probably familiar with the interface and know exactly what data works for your business goals. Well, your options moving forward are limited. Our recommendation, set up your GA4 if you haven’t already. More importantly, set it up correctly so you are tracking everything you need to.

Note: Properly setting up your GA4 is time consuming and can be fairly complicated. GA4 is an upgrade from UA and therefore there are differences in how the new application runs, including the type of data it collects. Hiring a professional to configure your GA4 ensures proper setup and data collection.
